Craft kits are prepared by volunteers in our workshop and are then delivered to artists with disabilities throughout the Lower Mainland. Once the crafts have been completed, they are picked up and sold in our retail store in Kitsilano and at events throughout the year. Our artists are compensated via incentive pay for the work that they do and this allows them the opportunity to make supplemental income, regardless of their health concerns. Some of our artists and volunteers have been with the organization for decades and we are very happy to have you join such a passionate team!
Following are just some of the volunteer positions that we are looking to fill. If you have an idea or talent that you would like to contribute, we would be more than thrilled to discuss this with you!
Workshop Crafters:
Are you creative, love to sew or do arts and crafts and have a few free hours each to contribute each month? We are looking for creative people to join us during our volunteer workshops at our store location. These workshops will involve preparing craft kits which are delivered to our clients for creation and assembly. Your role could involve cutting fabric, gluing items, counting inventory or helping come up with new ideas for products.
Special Events Angels:
Craftworks participates in numerous craft shows throughout the year, with the biggest events in the Fall. These shows are essential to us as they are a way to promote the work we do and represent an important source of revenue for our organization. We always need volunteers to help us at these events. We welcome volunteers to pick up or to drop off our products, help us with setting up, helping with sales, or simply to hang around and engage with people interested in knowing about Craftworks.
Store Helper:
Craftworks always needs people to help at the store with sales, organizing, displays and inventory of products. It is also a great place for you to engage with people coming in the store and explain what we do, how we do it, why we do it. Basically, you play a huge role in educating people about the vital role Craftworks is playing in our community in providing income opportunities for people with disabilities.
Database Creator/ Genius:
Craftworks has a very small staff team, 5 people in total that need your expertise in organizing information more efficiently. Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to assist in building awesome tools to work more efficiently to organize our volunteers, sales, client records, donors and inventory.
Product Photographers:
Craftworks mainly sells their products at the store or at craft shows, however, our big goal for this year is to develop our online sales store. A big part of this will be to have all of our products photographed in a creative way to display our products on our website.
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, or have an idea of how you can help, please contact Craftworks. We look forward to hearing from you! Phone: 604-736-2113 or Email: info@3hcraftworks.com
